Here is a video of my design painting process for my Wise Owl Necklace design for Lunar Rain. When I think of a new design idea, I first paint the idea in watercolour on paper. This painting is then used as reference to create the final piece of jewellery.
When designing the Wise Owl Necklace, I wanted to create something that was three dimensional, romantic and cute. When designing this idea, I tried to incorporate as many feathers as possible to make the piece very detailed. It was then given our signature matte finish to make the feathers stand out. The final piece is very wearable and cute.
The owl is often seen as a symbol of wisdom and knowledge. This association can be traced back to ancient Greece, where the owl was linked to the goddess Athena, who was revered for her wisdom and intellect. Owls’ large, penetrating eyes and ability to see in the dark have contributed to this symbolic association.
Their enigmatic nature has led to associations with secrets, magic, and the unseen realms. In some folklore, owls are believed to be guardians of hidden knowledge and symbols of the mystical.
