Melissa Chen: Meet Our Designer by George Collins
Melissa Chen is a Canadian artist and designer who creates art inspired by the natural world. Melissa immigrated to British Columbia, Canada at the age of two. She attended the Royal College of Art in London, England for her Master of Arts in Painting. She previously studied fine art at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts. In 2018, she founded LUNAR RAIN, her own fine jewellery brand. She designs all of LUNAR RAIN’s jewellery and paints and makes all of LUNAR RAIN’s ceramic art.
Melissa Chen started collecting vintage and antique jewellery when she was fifteen years old. When she was seventeen, she began designing jewellery after taking a jewellery-making class in high school. She then went on to art school, where she focused on fine art and filmmaking. After obtaining her master’s degree, she embarked on a career in jewellery.
